An interesting fact – a film starring quite young discus with fry. Nothing unusual, but … there are two parental pairs. The young Snake-Skin discus fish paired up and started spawning intensively.

Aquarium lighting during discus spawning
I wrote quite a lot about the quality of water for spawning discus, but not much about the lighting of the tank. Recent blog comments have inspired me to write more on this topic. Generally, the lighting of the aquarium during discus spawning does not have any great influence on its course, but then, when the fry melt (about 3 days after hatching of the larvae), it can sometimes decide about the success or failure of the aquarist.

Discus fry feeding
Discus spawning and the first days after hatching of larvae is a time of rest for the aquarist, but also the time of preparation for the next stage of the breeding – feeding fry. Since the laying of eggs by a pair of discus we have 9 days off – it will take three days incubation of eggs, three days larvae discus will need to absorb the yolk sac, three days the fry will feed only their parents’ skin secretions.Więcej »
